Speedway Grand Prix - Cardiff 2014

Without going into a lot of detail, my Dad has had a big involvement, love and passion for speedway for many, many years. For the past 6 years we've attended the biggest speedway event in the UK/world, the Speedway Grand Prix.

I know that some may be reading this, not having a clue what speedway is... so I'll just tell you a few of the basics. Speedway is a sport that involves riding a motor bike with one gear and no brakes, around an oval shape dirt track in an anti-clockwise direction - sounds fun right?...haha. In a normal meeting there are 15 Heats (races) and two teams that compete against each other, however, in a grand prix there are 20 heats and each one of the 15 riders (plus a wildcard rider) compete individually. In each heat there are 4 riders, who race 4 laps of the track. 1st places gets 3 points, 2nd 2 points, 3rd 1 point and 4th place nothing. In the Grand Prix there are 12 meetings in different places around the world and whoever gets the most points at the end will be crowned the world champion!

There is only one American rider in the Grand Prix called Greg Hancock, age 44. Most riders start to retire at the age of 30, but Greg just keeps going and going - he's been in every single Grand Prix, which started in 1995! Greg used to ride for our team Cradley Heathens, this is why we support him (although were not american). ONCE A HEATHEN, ALWAYS A HEATHEN!

Before the match started, we had some time to explore Cardiff city - It's so beautiful! There was a Welsh carnival inside the castle on the grounds. It was so cool to experience the welsh culture again, it's so colourful... The only thing was everything was in welsh (including the live music) haha.

Live music <3

After that we wondered the streets of Cardiff for a while... and lets just say there were some funny sights!

I don't think anyone could make him laugh!

Krusty the clown and a Darlek... great combination!

The atmosphere was electric before the match!

A few people randomly took photos of us as we walked down the streets... I think they all thought we were actually American (if only we were), It was so funny. Me and my two brothers also made it on TV waving our flags to the cameraman!!... It was only 4/5 seconds, but still haha!

Later, it was time to enter the Millennium stadium. We had a great view from our seats. Everyone had their air horns and they just got louder and louder and louder throughout the meeting!

The riders entrance.

Thankfully Greg Hancock won! It was very tense in the final race but he made it :) We were on our feet, waving our flags like mad!

When we left the stadium, a random guy wanted a selfie with me and my flag... I think he thought I was American haha!... I'd love to find out where the selfie has been posted haha...

Another great year of Cardiff over again!

Bring on next year!

Prom.

Recently I attended my school Prom and I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life, so I thought I'd tell you a few things about it in a blog post.

The day started when my Mum woke me up and gave me a surprise breakfast in bed. She told me "I'm going to be treated like a princess for the day" and I can definitely say that I felt like a princess (if only it could have lasted longer than a day).

For my make up I wanted to keep it as simple and as natural as possible. The products I used were:
  • Show Colors, Brown eye shadow - to lightly contour my eyes.
  • Maybelline, Master Drama, brown Khol liner - to line my upper and lower lash line.
  • NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder.
  • MaxFactor English Rose (510) lipstick.
  • Lipcote - to make sure that my lipstick stayed put all night.
  • Eylure London Pro-lash. These lashes were fairly easy to work with and they gave an overall fuller look to my lashes without being to drastic.
  • Maybelline, The Rocket Volume Express (waterproof) mascara.
  • Benefit, How To Look The Best At Everything.

The Benefit, How To Look The Best At Everything, is the best makeup set I've tried so far (plus it has really pretty packaging!) It includes:
  • The Pore-Fessional balm, which smoothed my skin beautifully and made my foundation stay put all night.
  • Two boi-ing concealers. These concealers really did cover my spots. I do suffer from acne and always find it hard to get a good concealer that gives me coverage. Having the two different shades also made it easier to match my own skin tone.
  • The Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, gave a lovely natural glow which picked up well on photographs (including flash photography) and was very easy to work with. The more you build it up the more coverage you get.
  • The Hello Flawless Powder, completed the look without it making my face look completely matt. It also came with a little brush to apply it with.
I really do recommend this makeup set to anyone whether your a teenager or adult, it's beautiful. The set also comes with a useful tips and tricks booklet which is helpful for those just starting out. It is also an excellent size for taking on your travels.

I painted my own nails with a french manicure set by Elegant Touch. I really do recommend this set as they didn't chip at all.

My dress was an electro blue colour which was covered in little diamanté jewels. I wore a silver bracelet and little crystal earrings. My neckless is a replica of the Heart Of The Ocean neckless from Titanic the movie.

I also had a little diamanté comb accessory in the back of my hair. The diamanté droplets blended really nicely into my curls.

I was lucky enough to arrive to Prom in a Jaguar XF. It was so cool, the best car ride I've probably ever experienced!! (It did start to rain a bit - hence the umbrellas - however we weren't going to let the weather stop us from having a good time!)

Prom in the UK is still a relevantly new thing, it's definitely not as big as it is in America (yet). We only have Prom once in the UK and that's after we've finished school. We don't have anything like Prom King or Queen either... I'd love to experience an American Prom to see how different it actually is, however, I wouldn't change our Prom for the world!

Parr-tayyyyy!! :)

Over all, Prom was amazing, I don't think it could have gone any better, it was perfect. I would do anything to relive it. So, If you have an upcoming prom make sure you make the most of it whilst it lasts - it goes to quick! It's definitely a big milestone that I will remember forever.  I can't believe my school days are over already, I'm really going to miss it!

Now my journey continues into the big wide world...

A different introduction...

so...

Hello... I'm Jenny, an average teenage girl from England. I guess you could say I'm at a good point in life, where I have a long summer ahead - after completing my exams - to relax and enjoy more of my hobbies and interests each day.

To be honest, one of the main reasons I've thought about blogging is due to my mind and way of thinking. I don't know about you but I'm the sort of person to over think everything... literary EVERYTHING! There's not a day that goes by where I'm not questioning something. I don't just mean questions such as, "what have I got to do today?", "why do I have to do that?", "what will happen if I don't do it?", I mean questions as deep as "what's the meaning of life?"... yeah.

I was the kid in my lessons at school who always liked to find hidden meanings behind things. For example in my English class, whenever we studied poetry, I used to use the structure and the words of the poem to create visual images, which not everyone could see. I swear most of the other students just thought I was insane with all the deep comments I contributed, but... it's just my natural thought process.

The other day, I was taking a walk with my family, and we were discussing fears (random I know). Normally, if someone says "what's your fear?" they may respond with a single word or phrase such as, "spiders", "heights", "failure", or "claustrophobia". But whenever anyone asks me... I don't really know what to say.

I don't think many of us really like to admit we have a fear in something, some of us don't like to define or label things by words. I guess I am scared of little things which I'm not aware of until I'm in that situation myself. However I know I fear things such as the unknown and our vulnerability in the world. This is where I could explain myself forever, however I've learned to sum it up in those two words, 'unknown' and 'vulnerability'.

Basically, I get scared knowing that we can change our lives - for better or for worse - through every single decision we make. You could meet someone who could lead you on to a successful career path or you could meet someone who could kill you in an instant (that's quite blunt of me to say but it's sadly true :/). You could even use your own actions, for example, to create a scar upon your skin by something you've done unintentionally but now it's an ever fixed mark that's apart of you. Life can change dramatically in seconds. We will never know the unknown therefore we are vulnerable to everything...

I could continue deeper, but I'll save your time. I have no idea how many other people have a similar thought process as myself (especially those my age) and I think a blog is a way in which I can express my thoughts to others instead of annoying the same people around me, haha!

I am in no means a good writer, I just want to try something different, a challenge if you will :)

Thank-you if you actually read this,

Jenny :)
